After the Avalanche Division - Mountains to Mountains
Skip to content

The After the Avalanche Division came to Mountains to Mountains through Dr. TJ Hartridge. In addition to being a medical doctor, TJ has spent decades as a ski patroller. Through conversations with Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, EMTs, and other ski patrollers, he saw a clear need for backcountry travelers to have a simple medical resource for taking care of avalanche victims. This was the start of the After the Avalanche project. Today, After the Avalanche as a division of Mountains to Mountains seeks opportunities to teach mountain adventurers what to do in the minutes, days, and months after an avalanche strikes.

Currently, TJ splits his time between clinical work in Wyoming, Salt Lake City, and Little Cottonwood Canyon, and teaching the next generation of emergency and wilderness medicine providers. In the winter, he works with Snowbird Ski Patrol and staffs the Snowbird Clinic.

What are we up to?

TJ and the After the Avalanche crew spend their winter season seeking out opportunities to meet and teach those who are interested in learning skills for emergency medical response, mental health first aid, and community resilience post slide. Learn more about where to find them this winter on our events page.
